Vintage style art print of Strangford village, County Down.
The village of Strangford sits near the mouth of Strangford Lough in County Down. Strangford is popular as a port for the regular vehicle ferry between the village and Portaferry.
The name Strangford is derived from the old Viking/Norse Strangr-fjǫrðr, meaning ‘strong fjord’ due to the very strong tidal currents flowing through ‘The Narrows’ – the mouth of Strangford Lough.
